Compared to the previous edition, released in honor of the 40th anniversary in 2014, the new 50th anniversary edition of Deep Purple's legendary album "Made In Japan" is even more expansive and impressive. The previous edition consisted of nine vinyl LPs or four CDs and a DVD digital download. Now, fans can enjoy a new box set containing a whopping ten vinyl discs, plus the choice of five CDs and a Blu-ray. All the legendary material, recorded at three concerts historically crucial to the creation of the original album, is presented in its entirety. A fascinating change from the sound of the previous edition is the intervention of Steven Wilson. Now, all tracks on CD1—the original album—are remixed by this master, rather than by Martin Pullan, as was the case in 2014. Wilson's fresh approach has rejuvenated classic tracks like "Highway Star," the album's opening track, which is now available for streaming. Fans will also be delighted by the inclusion of three rare tracks not previously included on the 40th anniversary edition: the German single version of "Black Night," the Mexican single version of "Space Truckin'," and the American single version of "Smoke On The Water." These exclusive tracks add a special touch to the new release. Additionally, the Blu-ray disc features a Dolby Atmos version of the album, also mastered by Wilson, allowing listeners to fully immerse themselves in the soundscape for a truly immersive experience. For those who prefer classic formats, a standard double vinyl edition will also be available.
