Misery is an action game with survival elements set in Russia, in an area devastated by a nuclear disaster. The game was developed by the independent studio Platypus Entertainment. Gameplay In Misery, we view events from a first-person perspective (FPP). Run Before the Explosion The game begins with a countdown to a nuclear explosion. The game gives us 60 seconds, during which we must gather everything we deem necessary and then proceed to the bunker, which from then on serves as our only shelter. Our primary goal is to survive and collect all the antenna components, which we will use to send an evacuation request. Exploring the Radioactive Wasteland The gameplay revolves around expeditions into radioactive wastelands. The locations we visit are procedurally generated, making each journey slightly different from the previous ones. As we traverse ruined housing estates, flooded settlements in swamps, fallout shelters, and vehicle and machine graveyards, we must keep an eye out for any useful items or resources, such as food, water, medicine, or weapons. Complicating matters is the fact that numerous dangers lurk in the locations we visit, including hostile humans and mutated creatures. Chief among these are the bosses guarding access to parts of the antenna. As if that weren't enough, after dark, our character begins to lose their minds, forcing us to act quickly to return to the bunker before sunset. Expanding the Shelter The game allows us to customize our refuge to our individual needs and preferences. We can expand it with new rooms and spaces, and also improve it in various ways, including installing power generators (gas, solar, or wind). Coop Misery can be played solo or in cooperative mode. The game supports multiplayer online or over a local network. Graphics Misery's visuals feature a retro style reminiscent of games from the original PlayStation era.
