The goal of this release is to be the most complete version of Cagliostro i can muster out of myself. This also works as a “pick-and-choose” release so you can muxed out anything you don’t want. Video - stuck with Hydes’ remux of the 2014 JPBD, despite weird chromatic aberration and some questionable color grading choices it’s by fair the best source for the movie. the old VAP BD has slightly better colors but it’s an older (shit) master, interlaced, and poorly encoded, the 4K also is just a smeary upscale of this scan despite a new scan done for the trailers. Audio - JP audio has a wealth of choices. the main track here is still aiming4theaces’ 1995 LD cap as seen on hydes’ release, It’s simply the best sounding mono version of the movie. For completionism I threw the 2014 5.1, 2019 7.1, and 2019 2.0. I didn’t have to sync and to be honest they aren’t worst sounding things ever. I included an copy of the optical track mostly just for the memes, SpaceHunterM synced it years ago so I didn’t have to do anything. The real star of the show here is the English audio, new for this release I have synced the rarely-heard 5.1 mix of the Manga dub and the true Stereo version of the Streamline dub from the VHS (kindly sent to me by SpaceHunterM, capped by RetroCCN, & cleaned by Krycek702), the standard 2.0 and Mono tracks respectfully of both dubs are still included, I also threw in the 2015 family friendly edit as it contains slightly different edits, i had the DVD version but it is basically the same minus one line. All extra isolated tracks from hydes are still included. In the extras I decided to include an MKA full of international dubs (19 dubs in 11 languages) from my old LupinDubs project with some updates, Full credits for all the audio are here Subtitles - This is the real meat and potatoes, for the first time ever I decided to fully translate the opening credits! (with typesetting help by ZeBenko) The main subtitle script is still Discotek’s revised 4K subs however for fun I decided to throw in various subs from other releases as well as the 1980 theatrical subs, all OCR’d and re-styled. Dubtitles for all dubs included as well (Note: the family friendly subs are timed for the 4K track but will still be in sync for the 2015 track). I also have included 20 international subtitle track from Netflix (thanks to DragsterPS) This is my love letter to what I consider to be an animated masterwork and I really hope you enjoy it!
