After several years of not too prestigious work, the musicians have matured for more serious things. In 1969, they hired a producer named Greg Hambleton and prepared the first demo recordings. They were lucky with the producer, he shapedly fell in love with the band and got him a contract with the “Tuesday Record” label. The released single “Ten Pound Note” brought them great success, both in Canada and abroad, and soon they were offered a tour in the States. Minions with a single quintet were published in the UK, Germany and Australia, and the long-playing records “Weighin’ Heavy ”(1970) and“ A Better Road ”(1971) were competed in 15 countries. The turbulent concert activity and the fame of Steel River continued until 1974, when they decided to wind down their activities. In the early 80s there was a short-term reunion of four members from the original composition of the group
