Simon Brett, Jeremy Front, Bert Coules - A Charles Paris Mystery - Complete BBC Radio Crime Dramas The complete (to date December 2024) BBC Radio collection of Charles Paris Mysteries by Simon Brett. If you are seeding the old torrent, please delete it but keep the files. All pre-existing files should stay intact, the unchanged episodes should pass the check and you’ll be 70% done already. The newly upgraded files are all m4b replacing mp3. The are not the same source and the new ones will sound better. Starring Bill Nighy as Charles Paris, an unhappily separated (but not divorced, more than 30 years on), moderately successful character actor with a slight drinking problem who gets entangled in various crimes, and finds himself unwillingly in the role of amateur detective. Adapted by Bert Coules (So Much Blood - Version 1) and Jeremy Front (all other stories) with Suzanne Burden as Frances and Jon Glover as Maurice. These are mainly my recordings from BBC Sounds/iPlayer encoded as vbr chaptered m4b, The exceptions being the five stories from ‘A Series of Murders’ to ‘Cast in Order of Disappearance’ which came from Audible (no recoding) I did recode the Bert Coules episode as it had masses of hiss, ear-scraping treble & almost no bass. I EQ’d it and reduced the hiss. It doesn’t sound great, but it’s acceptable. I have also included an earlier, unrelated production done in the 1980s for BBC Radio 2. It starred Frances Matthews as Charles Paris and was adapted for radio by the author. There were two series which were for some reason recorded in mono. Both are included here.
