The action of The Devil Within: Satgat is set in a setting combining science fiction and fantasy. The peace there was disturbed by the appearance of a mysterious tower called Ebon Sting. Although the structure initially seemed to bring prosperity, it was quickly discovered that it turned people into demonic beings. The case is investigated by Kim Rip, a royal guard, who sets out on a journey to reach the core of the tower and destroy the building before it destroys the entire world he knows. In The Devil Within: Satgat we watch the action from the side. The adventure takes us through various locations; we travel through, among others, an abandoned modern metropolis, industrial complexes and undergrounds, dense forests, mountains and even a town straight from the Wild West. Individual levels are connected to each other, creating a kind of maze (typical for metroidvania). As we progress, we gain offensive and defensive abilities. Moreover, by defeating subsequent Arch Devils, we absorb their powers - but at the cost of the hero's humanity.
