It includes nine songs of varying length, from two and a half minutes to almost 17 minutes. When announcing the release, Jethro Tull promised personal lyrics on topics that differ from typical stories from popular music. "Curious Ruminant" is also the band's first album recorded with new guitarist Jack Clarke. He joined Jethro Tull in 2024. Jethro Tull have not released an album for a long time: the album "The Zealot Gene" (2022) was their first work after a break of almost 20 years. However, it seems that the band has found a second wind. In 2023, Jethro Tull presented the album "RökFlöte" - and now, less than two years later, they have released "Curious Ruminant". Reviews of the new release of Jethro Tull are positive so far. The Progressive Aspect calls Curious Ruminant a “stunning record” that sounds “consistently brilliant” throughout its tracklist. Ultimate Classic Rock even considers the album “the band’s most satisfying work since the 1980s,” and also notes the good lyrics. According to ProgReport, of Jethro Tull’s three most recent releases, Curious Ruminant is “arguably the strongest.” Classic Rock praised 77-year-old frontman Ian Anderson for his “late creative peak” and called the album “inspired and poignant.” The Arts Desk described Curious Ruminant as “a series of energetic prog-rock anthems.” User reviews are also generally positive, with some even comparing listening to the album to visiting a medieval tavern
